Hanna Schygulla in Berlin’s Schlosspark Theater

Foto rechtsOn Monday, 15 June, Berlin’s Schlosspark Theater is hosting a very special guest in the person of Hanna Schygulla. In a follow-up to “17 70 – a journey through time,” with which she recently marked Fassbinder’s seventieth birthday at the Heimathafen Neukölln, the singer and actress is presenting a show titled “Dann werd ich eine Welt mir bauen” (Then I will build myself a world). Accompanied by pianist Stephan Kanyar, Schygulla will read and sing early texts by her former artistic companion and tell anecdotes from their time working together, thereby evoking the presence the 17-year-old Fassbinder on stage. The show begins at 8 p.m. and tickets can be purchased for €22.50 and €27.50 on the theater’s website.

Two parallel events are taking place on the same day. At 2 p.m. Birgit Murke, the Director of the Literature Initiative (LIN), will hold a lecture on RWF in the theater. And at 4 p.m. there will be a screening of THE MARRIAGE OF MARIA BRAUN, in which Hanna Schygulla plays what is probably her most well-known role. Both events are free of charge, and it is requested that anyone interested in attending make reservations by telephone on 030 / 789 56 67 100.

There will be a further performance of “Then I will build myself a world” on 16 June at 11 a.m. for schoolchildren, bringing the work of the young Fassbinder closer to a new generation. School classes and school groups can reserve places for the show on 030 / 83 43 504 and via the email address birgit.murke@literaturinitiative.de. Tickets cost €8.
