Restoration of Fassbinder’s Berlin Alexanderplatz praised as landmark achievement

With the beginning of the new season, we want to bring a recently published hymn of praise to the attention of all our readers, visitors, friends, and fans. The article deals with the restoration work we did on Fassbinder’s Berlin Alexanderplatz. It was issued by digital content producer.com.

D. W. Leitner, himself a highly respected connoisseur of technical issues related to film, a producer and cinematographer, looked at the restoration under technical aspects and calls it landmark and revolutionary.

The collaboration of all available members of the original technical staff under the supervision of director of photography, Xaver Schwarzenberger, to Leitner is “like inviting Michelangelo to oversee the cleaning of the Sistine Chapel.”

While it was our goal, in tandem with our partners, to preserve Fassbinder’s opus magnum, our intention was more fundamental: It was a general discussion about preserving historic film materials that we were eager to initiate. We could not have received more praise than we did in the article in question.
