RWF: Again at this year’s Berlinale
REVERSE ANGLE – REBELLION OF THE FILMMAKERS celebrates its premiere on 11 February 2008, at 9 pm at the Zoo Palast.
The documentary film by Dominik Wessely and Laurens Straub looks at the beginnings, the development and the crisis of the legendary filmmakers’ cooperative, the Filmverlag der Autoren. Producers and writers such as Werner Herzog, Wim Wenders, Uwe Brandner, Hans Noever, Peter Lilienthal, Thomas Schamoni and Michael Fengler symbolize this turbulent, zestful and often belligerent era of German film history. Interview excerpts with RWF to FEAR EATS THE SOUL emphasize his importance as pathfinder after having won the “Prix de la Critique Internationale” at the Cannes Film Festival in 1974.
REVERSE ANGLE is a “rise-and-fall-story” with all ingredients for a great cinematic narrative: Friendship. Success. Jealousy. Destruction. Death.
This film is dedicated to the Filmverlag’s first managing director Laurens Straub, who died in April 2007.
The Berlinale special series of the same name will be accompanied by a film series at the cinema Filmkunst 66: among other classics RWF’s WHY DOES HERR R. RUN AMOK? (10 February, 3 pm) and FEAR EATS THE SOUL (11 February, 3 pm).
