Kinowelt’s Summer Garden Party Under New Company Umbrella
After five years in Leipzig – this company has now become part of the StudioCanal Group
Kinowelt is one of Germany’s most significant distribution companies. No less than 28 of Fassbinder’s titles are currently available on DVD under this firm’s ARTHAUS label, making the company the most important outlet for the filmmaker’s work in Germany. In January 2008, the firm became part of the major French StudioCanal Group, which is currently making use of its numerous subsidiaries to move towards pan-European expansion.
Company chiefs Michael and Rainer Kölmel invited around 600 guests to this year’s edition of their summer gathering (July 3), which took place in the garden of the firm’s attractive residence. Among other things, the get-together provided the perfect setting in which to introduce new CEO Jan-Pelgrom de Haas. It was a delightful occasion.
The Rainer Werner Fassbinder Foundation was also attendance. The Foundation’s ‘delegation’ was headed by its president, Juliane Lorenz, who joined the event from Berlin.
