Versatile and ever-present Irm Hermann in the 2008/09 season at Berlin’s Komische Oper in Requiem...
Mozart’s Requiem combined with the play In the Snake’s Pit. Six Lifelines by Armin Petras and Jan Kauenhowen At the moment, Irm Hermann, the first and foremost Fassbinder actress, appears to be simultaneously present in several different places. This fall, the well-known film-, TV-, and stage actress can be seen in numerous productions and will most certainly demonstrate her versatility. On October 23, the film "ANONYMA - A woman in Berlin", set in 1945 Berlin during the last days of World War II and directed by Max Färberböck, will open in movie theaters. This year, Hermann has already appeared on German TV at the side of Götz George for his 70th birthday. The film SCHOKOLADE FÜR DEN CHEF will be repeated on October 12, 2008 at 8:15 p.m. on NDR. In addition, Irm Hermann appears weekly in the successful ARD serial DIE STEIN. She has just finished shooting for the TV thriller series TATORT, and Hermann can be seen onscreen again starting in February 2009 in Oscar-laureate Stefan Ruzowitzky’s children’ s film, HEXE LILLI, based on the books by KNISTER and Birgit Rieger. We are very much looking forward to Irm Hermann’s appearance in Sebastian Baumgarten’s staging of Requiem at Berlin’s Komische Oper, premiering on September 28, 2008 at 7p.m. A staging of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s last composition, a fragment of the requiem, will be shown in combination with the modern-day play, In the Snake Pit. Six Lifelines, by Armin Petras and Jan Kauenhowen. Quote from the stage notes: “Death has become an integral part of our neoliberal information- and consumer society since the »Burial-Discount« on the Frankfurter Allee promotes cost-free funerals and the internet offers the »check-list for decease«, helping everybody to prepare for the end. Has death lost its horror? Has dying indeed become something normal or is this just a strategic normalisation in order to expand our pain-free spaces, while the true debate actually is pushed to the back of our minds?” This will be the world premiere of In the Snake Pit. Six Lifelines. Four vocal soloists – Brigitte Geller, Elisabeth Starzinger, Peter Lodahl and Dimity Ivashchenko – will face four actors – Kathrin Angerer, Herbert Fritsch, Hendrik Arnst and Irm Hermann.
