“Fox and His Friends” on stage
Theater premiere at THEATERKINO Heidelberg
Fox and His Friends has just been added to the selection of stage adaptations of Fassbinder movies. (It premiered on October 10.) Whereas Heidelberg’s city theater follows a general trend of adapting popular movies for the stage, this is also a continuation of a theatrical trend begun worldwide in the mid-1990s: the adaptation of Fassbinder’s works.
In their 2009/10 season, the THEATERKINO will also feature, in addition to Fox and His Friends, the premieres of Fellini’s 8 ½ and the play Godard Driving.
The theater’s director, Jan Linders, and the play’s director, Daniel Cremer, chose to perform the piece at Heidelberg’s 1930s Schlosskino while the main building undergoes renovation. Their intention is to “turn cinema into theater and to encourage liberty“.
