Elisabeth Trissenaar in La finta giardiniera – The Gates of Love in Berlin
Mozart’s opera with a revised libretto by Hans Neuenfels
In the current season Elisabeth Trissenaar is appearing in the role of the Contessa in three performances of Mozart’s La finta giardiniera at the Staatsoper Berlin. The performances are on April 6, 11 and 19, beginning in each case at 7 p.m. Director Hans Neuenfels has added new passages to the libretto and subtitled the work The Gates of Love. The production is Neuenfels’ first for the Staatsoper, which is currently based at Berlin’s Schiller Theater, the company’s interim venue. The opera’s complex plot is explained here.
