Karlheinz Böhm turns 85

A man with two great life’s works

Karlheinz Böhm’s last public appearance was in 2011, when he handed over the presidency of the aid organization Menschen für Menschen (People for People) to his wife. Böhm founded the large-scale humanitarian project over 30 years ago, and since then it has been providing important development aid to Ethiopia. Irrespective of the disagreements between different participants in the project that are currently being reported in the media, we would like to extend our very warmest wishes to its great humanitarian founder, Karlheinz Böhm, on his eighty-fifth birthday.

Karlheinz Böhm is of course not only remembered on his birthday, and for those who would like to revisit highlights of his career as an actor we can recommend the DVD “EIN WIEDERSEHEN MIT … Karlheinz Böhm” distributed by our partner STUDIOCANAL, which includes the two films DAS DREIMÄDERLHAUS (House of the Three Girls) and RWF’s EFFI BRIEST.

Also recommended is the lavishly illustrated book Mein Leben – Suchen Werden Finden (My Life – Searching Becoming Finding), which covers both the significant moments in Böhm’s film career and the other major endeavor to which he has devoted much of his life, which began with a wager made on German television and resulted in his committing himself fully to development aid in Ethiopia.

The Rainer Werner Fassbinder Foundation simply wishes Karlheinz Böhm: “All the very best, Mister Karl!”
