Preparadise Sorry Now in Freiburg
Premiere on March 22 at the Stadttheater
Preparadise Sorry Now was staged for the first time by Munich’s Anti-Theater ensemble almost exactly 44 years ago. Now a new production with clear references to the present and directed by Annette Pullen is opening in Freiburg. In the play, the asymmetry inherent in 2-against-1 constellations and the feelings of superiority it gives rise to are presented in the context of the pseudo-liturgical rituals of the figures Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. The description in the program provides an idea of how this particular production approaches this theme: “The at times latent, at times aggressive fascistoid element in this experimental set-up recalls our own society, in the midst of which the rightwing terrorist cell “National Socialist Underground” was not only generated but also covered up, managed and supported for over a decade.”
