Die Sehnsucht der Veronika Voss (Veronika Voss)

Veronika Voss

Munich 1955: Sports reporter Robert Krohn (Hilmar Thate) meets the former Ufa star Veronika Voss (Rosel Zech), an exciting and attractive woman. Her behavior is mysterious. Robert becomes her lover. He attempts to shed light on the mystery of her life. Her former husband (Armin Mueller-Stahl) tells Robert the true story of Veronika Voss: First came the end of a glorious career with Ufa, then the marriage fell apart, and later Veronika began to drink. There were no new film offers. Veronika is addicted to morphine and in the hands of the unscrupulous Dr. Katz (Annemarie Düringer), who makes depressed, single people dependent on drugs in order to gain access to her patients’ fortunes. Robert and his girlfriend Henriette (Cornelia Froboess) try to set a trap for the doctor but the plan fails, Henriette is murdered. A few days later, Veronika is also found dead in the little room adjacent to Dr. Katz’s practice. She is the victim of sleeping pills. Without morphine, Veronika Voss could no longer endure life.
